After qualifying in 1970, he worked in private practice, first in London and then in Hertfordshire, before establishing a new practice in London in 1987 to work principally on historic buildings.
Following the closure of the London Practice, the present practice was established in 1993 and, after initially accepting a broad range of commissions, it re-established itself by specialising in church buildings.
